Peak and Prairie started with a a series of “what ifs”. We asked ourselves, what if we built it better, what if we built it for people that use it daily, and most importantly, what if we built it to push the boundaries of the conventional within this industry. As Canada’s only domestic producer of equipment of its kind, Peak and Prairie owned the “what if” and turned it into reality. Now, our company has technology patents, modern technological and capable supports and so much more.
Our company is family owned and woman led. Both our CEO – Kailyn Slenders and Board Chair – Cindy Slenders are exceptional women of science and capability. Together, they have formed an incredible vision and strategy of what Peak and Prairie will do for the future for not only Canada, but the world.
How did we get here now?
It all started with a fuzzy peach ring. That’s right, that one small gummy candy changed our world forever when we learned of the amazing capabilities of freeze dried candy. Fast forward a few months and our candy business was expanding faster than we knew what to do! Then in the midst of our growth, we found out that our machine was not certified for use on the Canadian market despite the manufacturers claims that it was. We tried working with the company, but after months of empty promises and no movement, we finally took it upon ourselves to correct this issue and soon found ourselves drawing up designs. We then met with some amazing supports from the Federal and Provincial governments and started our design and prototypes. Now we are nearing a market ready version of our own technology that will meet all safety and food and health certifications for all of North America and beyond.

Kailyn Slenders
Kailyn Slenders, RN, BN, IBCLC is a Registered Nurse and an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Having researched the technology thoroughly with the intent for another project, Kailyn has become more immersed with the technology and looking for ways that the technology, process, and food science can continue to help those looking for a healthier food lifestyle.
Her passion for helping others is another driving factor into the companies growth and soul. As she is dedicated to supporting people in time of need, the growth of this company and its technology means that she can champion support during times of crisis throughout the world.
Chief Operations Officer/ Founder
William Slenders
William Slenders (Bmgt) has over a decade of experience working as a Marketing professional in various fields, industries, and business settings. Having started his career in tourism and economic development, William has worked through many challenges and worked for Corporate and technology firms such as CCI Wireless & Xplornet Communications, Municipal governments, and Not-For-Profit associations. During his last role, William was approached to become the new Director of Marketing and launched many successful campaigns and assisted with operational and business level objectives and strategies during the height of the COVID pandemic and in a very challenging market environment.

Cindy Slenders has an exceptional background in leadership and management having worked at many organizations in her career as an Executive Director. Cindy also has a robust background including food safety and food systems management, as well as grant writing, and board of governance.

Wayne Slenders
Wayne Slenders has an extensive background in the agriculture sector in southern Alberta. Wayne’s background has given him an incredible look at supply chain, purchasing, financial acumen, as well as an opportunity to participate in several large business opportunities such as CCI Wireless, formally Alberta’s second largest rural Internet Service Provider. During his time on the board, he helped to manage millions of dollars of investment portfolio opportunities including the sale of CCI Wireless to Xplornet Communications.
